The best part of his job? ‘It’s definitely the patients. I really enjoy getting to know them and going on their dental journey with them.’
James is the owner and Clinical Director of Blueapple Dental & Implant Team.
His special interests are complex dentistry, and the use of dental implants to restore his clients’ dental confidence, health and beauty.
James’ boundless enthusiasm for dentistry stems from his commitment to his clients’ wellbeing, and helping them achieve their individual dental goals.
In 2007 James received the title of ‘Best Young Dentist in the UK’ from Dentistry magazine. In 2010 he received a national ‘Smile’ award for his treatment standards.
James is a passionate educator in the field of dental implants, establishing and running the popular Blueapple Study Club for fellow clinicians, and being a regular speaker in the UK & Ireland for the ITI (International Team for Implantology). In 2010 James was delighted to receive the title of a Fellow of the ITI, for his education role in this organisation. James is one of only 2 clinicians in Ireland to hold this position.
He qualified from the University of Dundee in 2001. From this he went on to a period of private practice in Gloucestershire and then Cheltenham General Hospital’s busy Maxillofacial department. In 2004 he gained Membership of the Fellowship of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons Edinburgh. In 2010 he received the Diploma in Implant Dentistry, also from the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh.
In his free time James enjoys spending time with his young family. He is also a committed cyclist. In 2009 he cycled from Malin Head to Mizen Head, the top to bottom of Ireland, to raise money for the Chest, Heart & Stroke Association. In 2011 he set himself the challenge of cycling from John O Groats to Land’s End to raise funds for the Multiple Society.
